The ensemble cast of The Banshees of Inisherin is to receive a tribute award from the Achill International Film Festival.

AIFF says the film is a masterpiece in screenwriting, directing and acting, and that it captured so much of Achill’s beauty.

The Banshees of Inisherin was nominated for eight Golden Globe awards including Best Director and Best Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress. The Banshees of Inisherin is the most nominated movie for this year’s Golden Globes.

Achill was the location of two feature productions in 2021 including My Sailor, My Love and Banshees of Inisherin. The Achill International Film Festival 2022 brought a taste of Hollywood to Mayo and is due to return in 2023 with more exciting film premieres, screenings and panel discussions with international film producers, crew and cast members.
